We’ll absolutely get those classic smiling-at-the-camera photos, but the ones you’ll love most usually happen in between. The laughs, the movement, the real interactions that actually feel like your family.

I guide you through the session so nothing feels awkward or forced. I’ll help with light, movement, and simple direction, then step back so things can unfold naturally. The result is a mix of polished portraits and candid moments that feel easy, real, and true to you.

FAQ

What’s the best time of day for a family photo session?

Golden hour—about an hour after sunrise or before sunset—is ideal for soft, flattering light. I’ll help you choose the perfect time based on your location and season to make sure everyone looks their best.

How long does a family session last?

Most family sessions last 45–60 minutes. That gives us enough time to capture natural moments, a mix of posed and candid shots, and any special requests—without overwhelming the little ones.

What should we wear?

Coordinated colors (not matching!) always photograph beautifully. Stick to neutrals, soft tones, or earthy colors, and avoid busy patterns or large logos. I’ll send a style guide and help you plan outfits if you need ideas!

What if my kids don’t cooperate or are camera shy?

Don’t stress—I specialize in working with kids of all ages. Sessions are relaxed and fun, and I guide things gently while letting personalities shine through. Some of the best moments happen when you least expect them.

Where do sessions take place?

I shoot throughout the Grand Rapids to South Haven area, and I’ll help you choose the perfect spot—whether you prefer a beach, park, urban vibe, or even your own home.

When will we receive our photos?

Your edited gallery will be ready within 2–3 weeks. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download images, order prints, and share with loved ones.

HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?

A signed contract and 50% retainer locks in your date. The remaining balance is due 48 hours before your session.
